Leisure & Pastimes
I'm an avid film buff and I try to go to the movies at least several times a year. There are times that I'll go more often merely because an actor or actress that I admire has a new project out.
My favorite actors are in no discerning order Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro and Matt Damon. The latter merely because of the Bourne trilogy of films.
When it comes to the actresses I admire Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster and Sanaa Lathan.
However I do find it that Hollywood insulting that it merely feels that by putting up a marquee name behind a project that it'll always lure the movie goer to a particular project. And that's been certainly the case when it comes to a umber of blockbusters that end up being panned merely because there wasn't a plot and the movie itself wasn't character driven.
It's one thing to spend $200m on picture and in part you're paying your lead actor or actress in excess of $20m and all you're left with at the end of the day is egg on your face.
That being said I think that with the economic climate as it is at present we'll see Hollywood scale back on many of the big budget projects. Times are tough and financing a big picture will be difficult . Especially if there's no guarantee that the studios'll get a return on their investment.
Hollywood's highest paid stars .........
Smaller independent movies may well be the way to go for the time being. Just my thought on the matter. What are your's ?
